Factory field trips are one of the most effective ways to help students gain a fresh perspective on the theoretical knowledge learned in class, while also exposing them to practical lessons that are not fully captured in textbooks. These real-world experiences provide students with greater confidence in their professional knowledge, enabling them to integrate more easily into the work environment after graduation.
At the Faculty of Food Technology, organizing industry field trips has always been an essential part of the academic plan, implemented through the Observation Internship (Kiến tập) course for each cohort. This course equips students with methods to apply and analyze foundational and specialized knowledge in food technology and food safety to explain real-world issues at food production facilities. Additionally, it helps students develop practical skills in observation, note-taking, synthesis, reporting, discipline, honesty, responsibility, initiative, independent work, and teamwork. Students also practice comparing theoretical knowledge with real-world processes in food manufacturing.
As part of the activities supporting the Observation Internship course, the Faculty of Food Technology collaborates with reputable enterprises in the food sector to organize factory field trips for thousands of students each semester. From the 2014–2015 academic year until now, the faculty has arranged for more than 8,000 student visits to one analysis center and seven large-scale food production factories. The detailed statistics of field trips from 2014 to 2019 are presented in the table below:

During each field trip, students have the opportunity to gain firsthand insight into the company's history, industrial-scale production processes, and modern technologies used in food manufacturing. They can also interact directly with company representatives to learn more about product development, production stages, marketing activities, and market expansion strategies.
These field trips play an essential role in helping students understand theoretical lessons more effectively and providing them with a clearer and more practical view of future career environments.
