The Faculty of Food Science and Technology (FST), Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry (HUFI) and the College of Science and Technology, Kyungpook National University, South Korea (KNU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in education and training. With this memorandum of understanding, both sides have agreed to enhance academic exchange for university students, collaborate in education and development of lecturers, promote scientific research and food technology activities during the period of 2020-2024.
Students participating in the academic exchange program at KNU can register for a maximum of 6 courses (equivalent to 18 credits) in the training program at the College of Science and Technology (KNU). These courses can be considered by the FST to be equivalent to some courses in the current training program. While studying in South Korea, students will be taught entirely in English. In addition to receiving specialized knowledge, this is also a good opportunity for students to improve their English proficiency. Furthermore, students also have the opportunity to participate in practical training at the modern laboratories of the university, and after graduation, they can apply for post-graduate scholarships.
To support student exchange before going to study in South Korea, as well as introduce the exchange program between the two universities to students of the Faculty of Food Technology at HUFI, Professor Kang Woo Won from KNU has come to Vietnam for several months to accompany and support students in introducing KNU, Korean culture, participating in some seminars and classes to exchange between Vietnamese and Korean cultures. Professor Kang is very enthusiastic, friendly, loves Vietnam and Vietnamese people, especially the lecturers and students of the FST.
Professor Kang is also very enthusiastic in supporting students. He has spent time teaching students the Korean language. In these classes, students are taught about the history of the formation of the Korean language, the Korean alphabet and some Korean cultures. He is always cheerful and explains in detail any questions students may have. He is very friendly to students, so they feel very comfortable when attending his classes. Professor Kang also supports students in exchanging classes on food science in Korean. In these classes, students learn a lot of useful knowledge in Korean about the field of food science. Moreover, Professor Kang also participates in classes of students to exchange culture and science between Vietnamese and Korean cultures.
