SEMINAR: “HOW TO REACH FOOD SAFETY IN FOOD BUSINESSES: THE EUROPEAN APPROACH”

In the afternoon of October 19, 2022, the Food Science and Technology Club successfully organized the seminar "How to reach food safety in food businesses: the European approach" - "The EU approach to food safety" in food businesses”. With the participation of:

- Ms. Do Thi Lan Nhi - Deputy Dean of Faculty of Food Science and Technology, HCMC University of Food Industry.

- Ms. Justine Van Durme - University of Ghent - Faculty of Bioscience Engineering - Department of Food safety and quality.

- Nearly 100 students of the FST.

 

The seminar "EU approach to food safety in food businesses" was organized with the following specific contents:

Part 1: Speaker: MSc. Do Thi Lan Nhi – Vice Dean of Faculty of Food Science and Technology in HCMC University of Food Industry

+ Introduction of BRC standard version 9 and the improvement of Food Safety Culture

Part 2: Speaker: Justine Van Durme – University of Ghent

- Introduction of Food Safety Management System (FSMS)

- Basic approaches to food safety in food businesses

- Food safety management system diagnosis tools (FSMS-DI)

- Research results on using FSMS-DI to evaluate the completion level of FSMS in the seafood processing industry.

 

On behalf of the organizer board, the club would like to convey sincere thanks to Ms. Do Thi Lan Nhi and Ms. Justine Van Durme for sharing really useful information to support students with the right and appropriate awareness, consolidate and update on issues related to food safety in businesses, food business establishments and the approach of businesses in Europe on these issues.
