SEMINAR: “STUDENTS WITH SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH FROM IDEAS TO PRODUCTS'' AND AWARDING CEREMONY: ''FOOD INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT SEASON 3''

On October 14, 2022, the Faculty of Food Science and Technology - Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry held a seminar "Students with scientific research - from ideas to products" with the participation of:

- Prof. Kang Woo Won, Faculty of Industry and Food Service, Kyungpook National University, Korea.

- Ms. Ha Thi Thu Suong, Development Director of DX-VINA Group.

- Dr. Nguyen Thi Thuy Duong - Faculty of Food Science and Technology.

- Dr. Phan Thi Kim Lien - Faculty of Food Science and Technology.

- Bui Minh Nhat Uyen – an alumnus of class DH06.

- Hase coconut-avocado ice-cream development team - students of the FST.

And all teachers, lecturers as well as students interested in attending.

- Guest speakers take turns sharing about how the idea was conceived and how to bring it into practice. Ideas can be very crazy things but do not frame it, find solutions to that madness. To do this, it requires knowledge and experience by reading documents, scientific articles, finding experts in the field to talk, hear about ideas and most of all, when you have an idea, don't hesitate. Find instructors!

- For an idea to be developed into a product, there are many factors in which a specific process is essential. First, we need to find out all the solutions to the idea, then choose a possible solution to experiment with, if it doesn't work, we can go back to the step of finding a solution. An idea that comes from the heart, desires and has a national element will give us more motivation to realize it.

      The end of the seminar is the part that many of students are looking forward to, which is the awarding ceremony of the "FID season 3" contest. After many contests and final rounds on September 7, 2022, the FID contest officially awarded prizes and certificates to the teams. The summary of the contest is as follows:

- First prize: FID13 - SYMCOCHA - Kombucha fermented tea product line from cocoa bean pods, coconut nectar and Vietnamese fruit

- Second prize: FID12 - Production of dandelion powder dissolved by vacuum drying technology

- Third prize: FID14 - Milk puffs from purple sweet potato powder rich in Anthocyanin

- Consolation prize: FID16 - Research on the production process of red dragon fruit pearl and pearl yogurt

- Consolation prize: FID11 - Developing coconut butter cream products

- Consolation prize: FID1 - Research and development of thick leaf jam products to support the treatment of dry cough

- Most impressive prize: FID7 - Research into the production of edible and biodegradable packaging from seaweed

At the end of the program Mr. Pham Viet Nam - Vice Dean of Faculty of Food Science and Technology gave a speech to encourage students to participate in scientific research contests as well as product development and startups.

Finally, thank you to all guests and lecturers who attended and shared valuable experiences. Congratulations to the winning teams, I hope the teams will find a way to continue developing their topics!
