FST STUDENTS GAIN PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE WITH PROF. YOSHIMITSU UEMURA AT THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR "SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH METHODS"

On the afternoon of July 13, 2024, the Faculty of Food Science and Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade successfully organized the international seminar "Scientific Research Methods" with Prof. Yoshimitsu Uemura. 

The international seminar "Scientific Research Methods" was held in a solemn and emotional atmosphere in the cozy room F501 at the main campus of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade. The seminar provided FST students with useful knowledge and introduced essential skills in scientific research. Moreover, the students' questions and concerns regarding their research projects, theses, and publishing in reputable journals were addressed. 

Contributing to the success of this international seminar, we sincerely thank Prof. Uemura for his impressive and informative presentation. Prof. Uemura is currently a visiting lecturer at Nihon University, Japan, and also a visiting professor at Fukuoka University, Japan. He holds a Ph.D. from the prestigious Tokyo Institute of Technology and has extensive teaching experience at universities and research institutes in Japan, Canada, India, Malaysia, and has also worked at large companies like Mitsui Chemicals. 

The seminar was attended by representatives from the Faculty of Food Science and Technology:

- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Nguyen Doan Duy - Head of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology

- Dr. Trinh Hoai Thanh - Organizer, Lecturer at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology

- MSc. Chau Ngoc Mai – Organizer, Lecturer at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology

- MSc. Nguyen Tran Bao Chau - Organizer, Lecturer at the Faculty of Food Science and Technology

Alongside the enthusiastic participation of all PhD. students, Master students, and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology. 

The seminar successfully covered topics including:

- Overview of typical food processing procedures in the industry

- Methods to carry out a research project or thesis

- Case studies for research and analysis in the field of food technology

During the seminar, Prof. Uemura detailed the process of packaging improvements over the years and introduced new product development technologies that are currently popular in Japan, such as mochi with cream, norikake seaweed, matcha tea, and green tea.

Additionally, students had the opportunity to "sensory evaluate" and taste the products brought from Japan by Prof. Uemura, making the atmosphere lively and exciting, igniting a passion for scientific research among FST students. 

The Faculty of Food Science and Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade once again sincerely thanks Prof. Uemura for his impressive presentation, providing students with a practical and beneficial opportunity to meet, learn, and exchange information.
